Papua, July 16, 2024 - After being inaugurated on June 7, 2024, the Secretary of the West Papua Daya Regional House of Representatives (DPR PBD), Johanis Naa, ST, MSi, along with his staff, conducted his first comparative study visit to the Secretariat of the Papua Regional House of Representatives. During the visit, Johanis Naa explained that West Papua Daya is a new province, now just two years old. Additionally, having been newly appointed on June 7, 2024, he felt it necessary to learn the primary duties as the Secretary. Therefore, his team conducted an orientation or comparative study at the Secretariat of the Papua Regional House of Representatives.

"As the Secretary of DPR West Papua Daya along with the Secretariat staff, we conducted a comparative study at DPR Papua and were warmly received," said Secretary Johanis Naa to several journalists during his visit to DPR Papua. Johanis Naa and his team inquired directly about the main duties and functions of the Secretariat of DPR Papua, which includes general affairs, finance, sessions, legal records, legislation, and more. This was done to deepen their understanding and knowledge for their future tasks.

"After we return to Sorong, we can implement the duties and functions of the Secretariat of DPR West Papua Daya to serve the members of the DPR, both from political parties and Otsus," he explained. He added that this comparative study also serves as preparation for the Secretariat of DPR West Papua Daya to provide services to the new members of DPR West Papua Daya, which includes 35 members from political parties and 9 from the Otsus route, making a total of 44 members.

"So, the 44 members of DPR West Papua Daya will consist of 1 chairperson, 2 deputy chairpersons, and 1 deputy chairperson from the Otsus route," he explained. Johanis Naa also mentioned that they are preparing for the inauguration of the members of DPR West Papua Daya for the 2024-2029 period, the first batch since the formation of the province. Orientation and formation of council tools and other matters will be prioritized. "Thank you to the Secretary of DPR Papua along with the staff who have warmly and kindly assisted us, even providing guidance that we will implement according to the rules,
procedures, and mechanisms when we return to carry out our duties," he said. Although there is currently no adequate building, Johanis Naa mentioned that plans are underway to build the DPR office in 2025, alongside the construction of the Governor's Office and the MRP Office by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.

"Therefore, this comparative study allows us to see firsthand and will be incorporated into the DPR building construction later. We can adjust it to the rules," he said. However, regarding the staff of the Secretariat of DPR West Papua Daya, Johanis Naa acknowledged that there has been no appointment for echelon III and IV positions until now. "So, for the time being, as the Secretary, I can double up for echelon III and IV, even as staff. The Secretariat currently has 12 ASN staff and we are in the process of transferring friends from other OPDs to the Secretariat of DPR West Papua Daya. We are accommodating including honorary staff, but in principle, we are referring to job analysis, needs, and workload. We need about 60 staff," he explained. Meanwhile, the Secretary of DPR Papua, Dr. Juliana J. Waromi, SE, MSi, along with her staff, stated that they warmly welcomed the visit of the Secretary of DPR PBD along with his staff, who conducted a comparative study to support future tasks.
