SORONG - Assistant III of the R egional Secretariat of West Papua Daya Province, Dra. Atika Rafika, M.Si, attended on behalf of the Acting Governor to open the Socialization of SOP for Conservation Area Management Cooperation, the Signing of the Cooperation Agreement for Strengthening the Conservation Area Function of the West Papua KSDA, and the Launching of the Conservation Area Encyclopedia Book held at Swisbel Hotel Sorong, Friday (12/07/2024).

In her speech, Assistant III emphasized that environmentally conscious development is no longer a choice but a necessity to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). "West Papua Daya Province, as the center of the world's biodiversity, has great potential in biodiversity that can be optimized to achieve sustainable development goals," said Atika. Atika added that currently, West Papua Daya Province is in the process of drafting the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) and requires input from various parties. "We need input from various parties to determine spatial patterns and structures that can provide maximum benefits for regional development and public welfare," she said.

The Government of West Papua Daya Province also congratulated the KSDA Regional Office for signing a cooperation agreement with PT Kilang Pertamina to support biodiversity conservation. Following that, the event continued with the launch of the Conservation Area Encyclopedia Book. This book is expected to become an important reference for conservation efforts in West Papua Daya and to raise awareness and knowledge among the public about the importance of preserving conservation areas. Through this activity, it is hoped that the synergy between the government, the private sector, and the community can be further enhanced to support the sustainability of the

environment and biodiversity in West Papua Daya, thus providing long-term benefits for
regional development.
