Sorong, August 15, 2024 – The Acting Governor of Southwest Papua, Mohammad Musa'ad, officially inaugurated Bernhard E. Rondonuwu as Acting Mayor of Sorong and Vincente Campana Baay as Acting Regent of Maybrat. The inauguration ceremony took place at ASTON Sorong Hotel & Conference, Sorong City, on Thursday (8/15/2024).

In his speech, Acting Governor Musa'ad emphasized that holding office is a trust that must be accountable. Therefore, he reminded the newly appointed acting regional heads to immediately carry out their duties and responsibilities with full dedication.

"Currently, the stages of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada are underway. Therefore, after this inauguration, the Acting Mayor of Sorong and the Acting Regent of Maybrat must immediately work to assist the KPU in jointly ensuring the success of the Pilkada in Southwest Papua Province," Musa'ad said in his remarks.

The Acting Governor also called on all elements of society and local government to support the Pilkada process as they did during the February 14, 2024, elections.

Apart from focusing on Pilkada, Musa'ad also stressed the importance of consolidation between the Acting Mayor of Sorong and the Acting Regent of Maybrat with the TNI-Polri to maintain security and stability in their respective regions. This is deemed crucial as regional security is key to the successful administration and development of the area.

Acting Governor Musa'ad urged both acting regional heads to start their duties without delay. "There is no waiting a week or needing orientation because I believe each of you already has experience. After being inaugurated, you must immediately begin your duties because the community needs service and change," he emphasized.

This inauguration is expected to be an important moment in strengthening synergy between local governments, the TNI-Polri, and the community to achieve stability and ensure the success of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada in Southwest Papua Province.[Humas]
